Things to do in Kapalua

Located on the West side of Maui, Kapalua is a resort development area by the Maui Land & Pineapple Company. With a population under 400 people, this serene resort area offers golf courses, restaurants, shopping areas, and much more.

While originally known as Fleming Beach after David Thomas Fleming, a Honolulu Plantation manager in the area, Kapalua is now home to some of the best beaches on the planet. Kapalua Bay was named “Best Beach in the World” by Conde Nast Traveler, “America’s Best Beach” by ecologist Stephen Leatherman, and “Best Beach in America” by the Travel Channel, amongst other accolades. And it’s no wonder why once you visit the beach to see sea turtles, Moray Eels, and thousands of tropical fish for yourself. You can scuba dive in the waters for an even closer look! There are also lifeguards on hand, giving it a kid-friendly atmosphere.

When you’re done with the beach, there are a couple golf courses in Kapalua worth checking out. The Bay Course and The Plantation Course are two of the best known, and offer rates and lessons for players of all levels, alongside gorgeous island scenery. There are also a number of tennis courts with instructors available. Be sure to make your reservations sooner rather than later, as they fill up quickly!
