Kalaheo is charming town home to great golf, coffee, and the National Tropical Botanical Garden. Located 12 miles east of Lihue, there’s plenty to see and do in Kalaheo. Kauai is well known for its lush landscape and is known as Garden Isle. It’s an adventurer’s playground with historical landmarks, farmers markets, and so much more.
If you’re headed to Kalaheo, start your trip with SpeediShuttle. And check out some of the favorite things to do in town:
The National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG) id dedicated to plant research, conservation, and education. NTBG has a network of gardens in Kauai and throughout Hawaii: McBryde Garden, Allerton Garden, Limahuli Garden, and Kahanu Garden. McBryde, located in Lawa`i Valley is NTBG’s flagship garden, and home to the world’s largest collection of native Hawaiian flora, as well as rare and endangered tropical plants.
Kalaheo Café & Coffee Co is a favorite local restaurant in Kauai’s rural upcountry where they serve hearty breakfasts and jumbo portions as well as Kauai’s famous coffee.
The Kaua‘i Coffee Company grows and roasts its own beans. You can tour the plantation and see how the entire process works!
The Maluhia Road Tree Tunnel is a canopy of Eucalyptus trees that line Maliuhi Road. The Tree Tunnel shades the first mile of highway 520 and creates a natural gateway to Koloa and Poipu. The trees were originally gifted to the community in 1911 by Pineapple Baron Walter McBryde.
This small, but beautiful rocky beach is a great spot for surfing, bodyboarding, and snorkeling, or enjoy a breathtaking sunset view. Located on the western end of Poipu Road, Lawa'i Beach is one of the top snorkeling destinations on Kauai. Snorkelers enjoy clear views because the beach is sheltered by a reef barrier.
The Hanapepe Valley Lookout is located after the Mile 14 marker on Highway 50. It’s the best place in Kauai to take in the full view of Hanapepe Valley. The valley’s primordial splendor was best captured and most well known for Jurassic Park. Step into the past at the Hanapepe Valley Lookout. The lookout is also a stop on the Waimea Canyon, Kauai Half Day Eco Fun tour.
